Ancient Egypt people used hieroglyphic to write with like when we use english. Hieroglyphic are based of two other writing that are called hieros and glypho and both the words are originally from the Greek. When ever their about to write something the they don't write it on paper they write it on like sheet that is called papyrus. The quality of their work were very high detailed.

When they draw on linen the signs would often be simplified but they would still be individual signs. There was this special cursive from the hieroglyphic writing that was used from the book of dead. This style was used for the text and tombs for the 18th kings giving the impression that  papyrus scroll was unrolled against the wall. Here is a video on hieroglyphics enjoy.
