How Government Worked

 

 

 

     Ancient Egyptian government was "centralized", which meant that the king made all the decisions.  When there was a king who wasn't very good at this, the whole government ran into problems.  The kings decisions were carried out by his minister.  Becoming a minister wasn't easy, as most top jobs stayed within families.  But if your parents paid for an education and you were very talented enough, it was possible to work your way up.
