Famous Women

In ancient Egypt, there were many, many queens. But there were five very important queens: Ankhesenamun, Cleopatra, Hatsheput, Nefertari, and Nefertiti. All of them were from royal families. There isn't much information about the queens. Ankhesenamun was the wife of King Tut, who was likely to be her half-brother. She got married when she was just thirteen. Cleopatra was one of the most famous queens. She was a Greek Pharaoh who was one of the last Greek Pharaohs to rule Egypt. Hatesheput also married her half-brother Tuthmose II and she ruled Egypt for twenty-one years. Hatsheput put on a fake beard and wore male clothing so she could look more like a pharaoh. Nefertari was the favourite of many wives of Ramses the Great, whom she was in power with. Nefertiti was married to Akhenaten and was known as the most beautiful queen.
